Marin Sun Farms has established a label which represents the locally defined Food-Shed of the San Francisco Bay Area communities. This framework represents our contribution in creating a more sustainable food system. The food we provide is produced, processed, distributed, and sold within this framework. When you see the Marin Sun Farms label, you know that it represents this place, these lands, these animals, these people, their philosophy, our community, and a more sustainable future.
The co-producers that supply Marin Sun Farms assist in fulfilling the seasonal and year round demand for our food by optimizing their niche within our Food-Shed ecosystem – bringing to market the best quality at the peak of each micro-local season. MSF would not be capable of the diversity and year round supply of quality products without this collaborative, and environmentally sound, farm to fork approach.
Each co-producer adheres to our protocol of production for ruminants, poultry and pork. MSF forward contracts, in a variety of ways, with each of our co-producers, in advance of delivery to market, thereby staking ownership in the co-production of the livestock. We monitor progress throughout the year and make adjustments to meet the needs of the land, the livestock, the people, and the marketplace.
